CARE INSTRUCTIONS

  • DENIM/CANVAS

INITIAL BREAK IN : We recommend soaking your jeans (this also goes for any jacket or shirt, but we’re going to say jeans here for the sake of clarity) before you wear them the first time. This will remove most of the excess dye and starch that is used in the fabric production process. Get a tub of some kind (don’t use your bathtub, you are likely to stain it), fill it with lukewarm water, try to avoid wrinkling your jeans when you put them in the tub, and then soak them for 10-20 minutes. Dump the water out and repeat this soak/dump process until the water is clear. Then hang your jeans to dry, but before they are totally dry, put them back on and do some movement. We recommend squats, kicks, kettle bell swings, lunges, but whatever tickles your fancy is fine. If you do this when your jeans are a little damp it will really speed up the break in process and help set all the creases in the right places for your jeans to fit your body. From here you can either wear them dry, or hang them back up to finish drying on their own.

WASH: The safest bet is to hand wash cold with a mild detergent and hang dry. If your jeans/jacket/shirt are extra dirty or you just want to use the washer, no problem! Wash cold with like colors or alone. Be especially careful with indigo dyed fabrics because they will bleed and stain your other clothes.

DRY: Shake them out to reduce wrinkles, and hang dry (we recommend avoiding the dryer- it wears your clothes out faster and makes them shrink more). They will feel a bit stiff and the waist will feel a little snug after a wash, but they will stretch back out and feel normal again after a day or two. To expedite this process you can put them on when they are still a little bit damp and do some ninja kicks and some squats, this will help set the creases again and stretch them back out faster. Then you can hang them back up to finish drying.

  • CHAMBRAY/FLANNEL/OTHER SHIRTING

Wash cold with like colors, take care with indigo fabrics because they will stain your other clothes. Shake them out and smooth them out to reduce shrinkage and wrinkles. Hang dry on a coat hanger if possible. Use a warm iron if you want to further reduce shrinkage and wrinkles.
